Saguaro National Park ~ comprises 80,000 acres of pristine, living desert where a remarkable variety of plants and animals thrive. On your way to museum, you will drive through the national park which preserves the most magnificent Suguaro forest in the world. It's possible to see a wandering coyote, jackrabbit or roadrunner.  The Sonoran Desert’s largest concentration of the majestic saguaro cactus flourishes here, along with palo verde trees, rare cacti and wildflowers that bloom vividly in spring and summer.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum ~ The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, nestled in the Tucson Mountain Park, is recognized worldwide as a leader in natural history interpretation and exhibitory. This “living museum” houses over 1300 kinds of plants and 300 species of animals that live in enclosures designed to replicate their niche in the wild. Observe reptiles and invertebrates of the Sonoran Desert, along with mountain lions, Mexican wolves and black bears – in the Mountain Habitat, The Cave and Earth History Room explores 4.6 billion years of our planet’s history. Enjoy the Riparian Habitat with underwater viewing and aquatidc exhibits – all in naturalistic settings. The Desert Museum also has a wonderful Humming Bird Aviary where you may sit and watch these unique creatures. This is an outdoor experience that requires walking.

San Xavier del Bac Mission ~ The fabled “White Dove of the Desert”, San Savier Mission, was founded by Father Kino, a  Jesuit missionary, in the late 1600’s. The mission is regarded as the best example of Spanish Moorish architecture in the United States. Standing stark white on the desert landscape, the Mission is active and resides on the Tohono O’odham Indian reservation.

Downtown Tucson ~ Tucson is a city with an exciting and colorful past – rich in Indian, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo culture; and is fortunate in having whole neighborhoods where this history has been preserved. The Barrio Viejo and Armory Park have well-preserved Sonoran, Mission Revival and Victorian buildings. The downtown trip will point out “A” Mountain, The Community Center and the El Presidio Historic District. There will be no stops downtown.
